Forty years ago, the Hurlbut family began making apple wine from their McIntosh and Cortland crops for family and friends. They now produce a dozen varieties commercially and blend most of them with other fruits at their production facility in New Haven, Oswego County.
Options available at the wineryís retail locations in New Haven and Dundee, Yates County, include raspberry-apple, blueberry-apple and straight apple wines. Pomegranate Passion, the latest product, has quickly attracted devotees because "itís kind of tarty," says winery co-owner Patti Hurlbut.
