Slogan: Casual wine tasting, "wine without bull." The late Dave Bagley, owner and winemaker at Poplar Ridge Vineyards, saod he was often asked what "wine without bull" means.
"To answer, let me state that it has nothing to do with Bully Hill Vineyards. I was once the cellar foreman there and I have nothing but warm and fond memories of my days there. 'Wine without bull' is more of an attack on the snobbery and pretentiousness that pervades the wine business.
"We at Poplar Ridge strive to produce wines that are pleasant and fun to drink...at reasonable prices."
Featured wines: Chardonnay, Riesling, Cayuga White, Vidal Blanc, Ravat 51, Queen of Diamonds, One Eyed Cat, Brittany's Blush, Baco Noir, Dave's Big Red, Chelois, Bagley's Brut (sparkling wine) and Bagley's Blanc de Blanc (sparkling wine).
Tastings and sales: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
