In the shadow of a 1911 Rochester-made stained-glass window fittingly titled Abundance, the Finger Lakes Wine Center at Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion in Canandaigua stocks wine from 45 local producers in its shop
and pours 10 to 15 options in the tasting room. For an admission fee, the property boasts 50 acres to explore, including Japanese, rock and rose gardens and a 19th-century Queen Anne-style mansion.
Wine-centric events also figure into the center’s offerings. One of the newest is Featured Fridays, a casual taste-and-chat series led by local winery representatives.
Tasting room hours: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May 1 to Oct. 31. Open until 5 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Tasting fee: $3 for five samples.
Accessibility: Fully accessible tasting room. Second-floor wine shop accessible only with staff assistance.
Amenities: No admission fee to taste or buy wine. Wine shop stocks products from 45 Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario wineries.
