Like a tireless oompah-pah band at Oktoberfest, Castel Grisch Estate Winery in Watkins Glen, Schuyler County, has stuck to its German traditions. Sauerbraten, schnitzel and spaetzle anchor the dinner menu at the on-site restaurant, while Gewurztraminer and various styles of Riesling take center stage in the tasting room.
The operation also has a bed-and-breakfast for those who want to wake up to a sweeping view of Seneca Lake.
Tasting room hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Restaurant hours: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, mid-December to Easter. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, the rest of the year.
